New! [05 Apr 2010|02:44pm]
Hello everyone!
My name is Ariel and I'm new here. I just  started up my livejournal and I think the whole idea of communities is awesome! I'm a huge workout nut, so I wanted to join up and say hello. :)
Basically, I try to fit in at least 4 workouts a week. I do go to my school's gym, but I mainly work out at home. Jump rope, ab exercises, and lifting weights is my routine when I'm at home, but at the gym I mix up the cardio on the machines. I do Martial Arts twice a week and I walk to school every day.
Here are my stats:
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 115

I'm happy with where I am, but I'd like to keep it that way and maintain my flexibility and stamina. My goal is just to be in a group and support fitness as well as keep myself motivated!

Sorry, but the previous link was wrong. Here is correct one...

Another newbie! [31 Mar 2006|05:40pm]

Hey! I'm Claire and I'm new here so thought I'd say hi! I realised recently that I was a total workout junkie so thought this was perfect for me!
I like running, and swimming and I go to the gym regularly and I've just discovered a class called "Cardio Combat" (maybe other gyms have it too?) which is jumping about and punching and kicking etc to music which I really enjoy! I used to play tennis twice a week so I have a weak knee, but I've learnt what I can and can't do and now it doesn't stop me!!!
I'm 5'7" and 137lbs so I'm pretty happy with my weight as I'm pretty muscly, especially my legs! I live in Sheffield without a car so I walk everywhere. I live up one of the steepest hills around here and it's definately my secret to a great bum!
I'm running in the Race for Life in June so I'm training hard, I'm determined to do the 5km in under 35 minutes!

Intro- [31 Jan 2006|01:34pm]

Hey guys- I'm new to this community. I'm a 17 year old student, and I've been working in a gym for almost 2 years now, which is how I really got into fitness. For a while, I relied solely on the fact that I've been dancing for over 10 years to count as my main form of exercise, but once I started working in a place where everything is about health and wellness, I started re-evaluating my options. I had a program designed to help me tone up my muscles, especially in my arms and back, and to maintain the muscles in my legs that I developed through dancing. I also started attending a spinning class occaisionally, and quickly became addicted to a class that incorporates Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates all in one. (If anyone's familiar with the Les Mills group fitness programs, ithose would be RPM, and BodyFlow, and though they offer BodyPump, I haven't been able to take that one nearly as often as I would like to.) My current goals are to maintain a healthy weight for my height (5'6"), and before summer hits, I'd like to take some fat off of my butt and thighs (my major problem areas) for swimsuit season. :D

Hi everyone! I just joined so I figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Hollie, and I'm 15 (sixteen in two months!). Working out is one of the only things in my day that I'll put off other things to do. I love the feeling you get and if I'm having a bad day, it usually puts me in a better mood.

Right now, I'm at 126 pounds, but I wouldn't mind losing a little. I run for about 30-45 minutes everyday. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I know you can't really spot reduce, but my legs and thighs are the main places I would like to work on. Lately, I've been doing sprints instead of running the whole time, at the suggestion of a friend. I end up running the same distance, just one way I do about 8 sprints going as fast as I can (power walking and jogging in between) , and the other I keep a somewhat steady pace. Does anyone know if one way is any better than the other?

Hi everyone! I just joined here. My name's Emily and I'm 15. I love working out at the gym, I go 5 times a week. I do classes there, a dance class twice a week, kick boxing once a week and yoga/pilates twice. They're all a lot of fun. I also play badminton every week (but I'm not that good hehe)
At the moment I think I weigh about 62 kilograms (or 136 lbs) but I don't really like weighing myself. No matter how hard I work out, I can't seem to lose any weight! Does anyone have any tips? I am getting some muscles and toning especially for yoga and pilates but I'm not getting any thinner!
Well, bye for now! :)

Are there many people in this community interested in gaining (not losing) weight?

I currenty weigh 93.something pounds, I'm about 5 feet tall. I've actually lost weight recently :( I'm trying to build muscle and just generally be healthier.

Can anybody suggest resources for me?

hi guys! my name is jessi and, obviously, i just joined this community. this summer i really started taking to exercising regularly because i want to look good for ring dance.

i started the Basic Taebo tapes in August at 5'3 145 lbs. about 3 weeks ago I graduated to the Advanced tapes. so far i've lost about 5 pounds but, since my goal is to be muscular and not just skinny, i've gained quite a bit of muscle. Because of that i now weigh 154 =)

well, ive babbled enough. it's nice to meet you all here and i hope i will be welcomed as well =D --jessi

Working it out! [02 Sep 2004|02:42pm]

[ mood | busy ]

Hey there girlies!

I just joined this community and I have a question. I am 105lbs and 4"10, so I am looking for a workout that helps me tone up (tight abs, arms, and butt). I don't want to lose any more weight but I do want a workout that makes me sweat. Any suggestions?

Hey my name is nicole. I've lost about 12 lbs this summer and i wanna lose more. so i found this workout routine that supposedly is britney spears's.

4 times a week

°Warm up: 10 minutes on a cardiovascular machine, such as a treadmill or a stationary bike. But only at a medium pace, so as to not tire out too early in the workout.

°Abdominals:50 crunches, 50 bicycle twists & 50 leg raises. Repeat this rountine 3 more time in between weights, making it 600 crunches in all.

°Strength Circuit: Using weights work on the arms, chest, back & lower body. Bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, fly exercises and presses.

°Back to Cardio and Abs: 30 minutes jogging on the treadmill or exercise on an elliptical cross-training machine. Then repeat the same abdominal workout up to three more times in sets of 150 of each exercise.

°Stretch: Lots of stretches after each workout and at least one yoga class a week

so i'm gonna be doing that and just eating healthy. i wanna be a size 5 by new years . i'm a size 8

need a buddy??? [16 Aug 2004|10:46pm]

Hey ya'll, my name is Margaux and I need some motivation. Quick story:
Used to play sports in high school. Went to college, and this first year I put on the freshman 15. I haven't been running for a while, but would like to start up again. I'm pretty knowledgeable about health and what not, no crazy BS.
Basically, I'm just hoping someone out on this board is looking to get started running too, and I thought maybe we could check in with each other at night, log down our exercise, offer motivation and encouragement, talk nutrition, whatever.
best of luck and love

Can someone give me tips on starting a running regime? I haven't been doing much cardio so I have to start out kind of slow.

I also do pilates about 3 times a week for toning.

Newbie =) [30 Jul 2004|08:45pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

Hi everyone,

I'm Tara and I just joined; I'm interested in losing a little weight and talking to others who also want to. About me, I'm 21 and 5'4 - 5'5 (somewhere in between). I weigh 125 and I want to get down to 115. I don't think that's too skinny, I think it's pretty healthy. My highest weight was 140, two years ago (I gained the freshman 15) and my lowest was 120. I eat whatever I want basically, but I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and do extensive cardio and strength training.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone. =)

ok i want to drop some pounds.

First of all, im about 5'6 and about 143-145 lbs. What would be a good goal weight?

Also, no matter what i do I don't loose weight. I was on a track team with extensive workouts and didn't loose anything. I don't really gain weight either. So does anyone have like any good exercise tips or workouts i could try?

Hey, I'm Steph. I just thought I would kind of introduce myself, so that if I comment or something you'll have an idea of who I am.

So, alright. I'm 13. I know, that bothers a lot of people. But I'm really much more mature than the majority of cats my age. Possibly because I've been casted aside for always being kind of heavy, and only truting in people who are much older than me, and don't have such scanning eyes. I weigh in somewhere around 160-170. I'm very introvertish unless I know you well.

I dont have a goal weight. I dont have anything like that. I just want to be able to go look at myself and be comfortable with what I see. Or go into a dressing room and not have to come out to go get a bigger size, or feel like I'm going to cry. It may be vain, but it's for my own sanity.

Feel free to add me, I'll add you back.

God Bless
